Biography
Josh Hughes is an emerging classical guitarist known for his expressive interpretations and refined technique. With a deep passion for the performance of the classical guitar, Josh brings a fresh yet respectful approach to the repertoire, captivating audiences with both sensitivity and precision.
Having studied under Craig Ogden at the Royal Northern College of Music and participated in masterclasses with renowned guitarists such as Xuefei Yang, Gabriel Bianco and many others, Josh has developed a distinctive style that blends musicality with technical excellence. His repertoire ranges from the works of Renaissance composers through to Spanish Romantic masters and contemporary pieces, offering audiences an engaging and varied musical experience.
Josh has performed at a variety of venues, including Buxton Opera House, RNCM’s Concert Hall, a multitude of festivals, and intimate recital settings, where his performances are noted for their clarity, warmth, and connection with the audience. Josh’s musical activities extend beyond solo performance. He regularly collaborates with Joel Redfern as part of J2Duo, bringing their dynamic guitar partnership to a wide range of venues across the UK. In addition to duo work, Josh has performed with larger ensembles and has experience appearing with an orchestra.
